If the sports world hasn't been crazy enough this year with Major League
Baseball steroids scandal, the New York Giant's beating the cry baby New
England Patriots, Bernard
Hopkins losing his belt to a bum, B.E.T comes out with the iron ring,
Josh Howard admitting that he smokes weed in the off season (and so do other
players), Football still recovering from the Michel Vick's problems, Tiger
Woods blows another opportunity to win a green jacket, Memphis loses the
NCAA championship due to their inability to hit free throws and my all time
favorite, Brett Favre on the cover of Madden '08 and he's retired.
After witnessing these various debacles, we were not surprised by the
W.W.E.'s absurd attempt at a modern day "David and Goliath". Yes I
am talking about the now infamous pay per view fight between Floyd
"Money" Maywheather and The Big Show. Now like you when I first
heard it all I could do is laugh and think to myself "Say it ain't
so!", but then when I heard that he was paid a whopping 20 million
dollars for the event I was blown away. I gave Floyd the benefit of the
doubt figuring that he felt that he has beat every one put before him in
boxing and now put his sights on conquering a new frontier in wrestling
which involved beating up on a 7 ft 400 pound giant but this time, the
conquest was clearly not the case at all. I guess we see now why his new
nickname is money. How fitting!
If you didn't catch the Wrestlemania XXIV Pay-Per-View fight , then you
missed Money Mayweather defeat the ominous wrestling giant, The Big Show.
Yes it was comical to watch the 5'7 Mayweather try to box the 7 foot Big
Show. After his futile attempts Money finally took to wrestlings old and
dirty tradition and grabbed a chair, hit The Big Show over the head
momentarily dazing enough for Money to knock him out with a set of brass
knuckles on his right hand. The fight lasted a little over 11 minutes.
Afterwards Money (never a loss for words) goes on to say "Now, every
time you look up -- no matter where you go, I don't care where you are --
I'll be the most-talked-about entertainer out there. I can't say I'm the
most-talked-about fighter, because other guys are just fighters. Oscar
De La Hoya is just a fighter. Floyd
Mayweather is an entertainer."
